      Mt. Esther Trail Day Hike

      Marian Avoy will be leading a fantastic hike up Mt. Esther. The trail will lead through beautiful forest scenery, ridge-lines, and plenty of overlooks to take pictures. Members will have a great opportunity to see Pikes Peak, Crystal Reservoir, and the Colorado Springs area. Get out of the house and come hiking with us! Spring time is here, and who wants to be stuck in the cabin?!?! FYI: THERE WILL BE A POTLUCK BRUNCH AT MARIAN'S HOUSE AFTER THE HIKE. HER HOUSE IS VERY CLOSE TO THE TRAILHEAD, SO IT WILL NOT BE A FAR DRIVE. Difficulty: Medium CAUTION: THE FIRST MILE OF THIS HIKE IS VERY STEEP - APPROX. 900-1,000 FT. ELEVATION GAIN. Distance: Approx. 5 Miles Elevation Gain: 1,500 Ft. Hike Type: Out-and-Back Dogs: Yes - Must be kept on a leash. Carpooling Location: Meet at the Ute Pass Elementary School parking lot at 9:30AM. Drive west on Hwy 24, past the turnoff to Pike's Peak Hwy and take the Chipita Park, Green Mt Fall turnoff to the left. You'll see the elementary school on the right. We'll carpool to the trailhead, about 1 mile, as there's limited parking there. Ute Pass Elementary School 9230 Chipita Park Road Cascade, CO 80809-1400 Trailhead Directions: To get to the trail head travel west on Hwy 24, exit on Cimarron St, turn left onto Fountain Ave, continue on Chipita Park Rd, turn left at Picaba Rd then left on Mountain Rd. The tail is just off of Mountain Rd next to it intersection with Picabo Rd. Recommended Gear: 1. Hiking Boots 2. Hiking Poles 3. Yaktracks or Microspikes 4. Water 5. Snack 6. Day Pack Liability Waiver: Please bring a signed copy of the Liability Waiver to the meetup location. If you forget to bring it, dont worry because the organizer will have extra copies on hand. Only one waiver has to be signed for each member for the lifetime of the members membership. YOU CANNOT PARTICIPATE IN THE ACTIVITY UNLESS THE FORM IS SINGED AND DATED.
